In 60’s-70’s PENTAX was top manufacturer of SLR cameras and wonderful lenses. At the beginning of digital era this company stays on second positions, but in very last years they provides number of successful cameras together with another great player – SAMSUNG Corp. But using of compatible K-mount lenses (many of them are really cool!) described in camera’s manuals extremly poor.
It’s impossible to count how many times questions like “Which lenses can I use on my Pentax DSLR?”, “Can I use old lenses on my Pentax Digital SLR?” and “How will this lens type function with my DSLR?” have been asked on forums.

I went this hard way too. When I try to attach my old lens to my new Pentax K100D, I found, that a body don’t recognized a lens at all! After attempts to found any useful information in the manual I try to make some research in Internet and this solution gave me a success.
Shortcut to success shown below:

Full solution with nice pictures is placed in deeps of dpreview’s forums.
There you can found number of different types of K-mounts with different features.
