This German proverb means: “Order is non-negotiable”. I’ve use it because Germans are considered to be the main experts in this kind of thing. A phrase not very in accord with modern reality, but that’s another story. At the core this rule is absolutely right. With digital cameras you are able to produce much more photos than with film, and it means you’re going to be looking for particular shots in a huge collection, which is no trivial matter.
The growth of digital photography to a wide community of amateurs has brought about the development of a new class of software: image managers. These programs look like a hybrid of file manager, database engine and image viewer/editor. Some programs like Adobe Photoshop have more editing functions, other like XNview  - have more for file management, but all three components are present.

Transfer, find, organize, edit, print, and share images, all with this easy-to-use product. Watch Picasa automatically organize all your pictures into elegant albums by date. Having all your photos in one place means no more time wasted searching for folders or files. The program works with JPEG, GIF, BMP, PSD, and movie files and is compatible with most digital cameras; it detects your USB driver and imports pictures into albums. Editing tools include cropping (standard or custom), removal of red-eye, and enhancing--even switching from color to black and white. Create slide shows set to your MP3s. Integration with Picasa's free Hello instant picture-sharing software lets you share hundreds of photos in seconds and chat in real time. E-mail photos with Picasa's built-in client to take the guesswork out of compressing images, and order photo-lab quality prints or print at home with no mistakes. You can also make instant backups to CD (or to other hard drives) of your photo collections, to organize your photos using labels and stars (just like with Gmail), to write captions for all pictures, and to organize videos as well as pictures.

Picasa stands out from some of the common flood of image managers with some interesting features. And for one feature alone this program (together with its developers’ team) merits a place in Hall of Fame.  I mean the ability to scan all the folders on your computer to find misplaced images. Indeed, some photos I had given up for lost were found.

ACDSee

The company ACD Systems with its well-known product ACDSee was a pioneer in this type of software. Their program has a long history: The first versions were issued in the good old DOS times. ACDSee started as a universal image viewer for all the existing graphic formats. At that time in this area chaos ruled and each developer provided his own format and own viewing program. ACD Systems solved this problem once and for all.

After this revolutionary gap ACDSee grew from an easy way of viewing images to the powerful all-in-one toolset it is today. With its embedded image editor the program covers almost everything you need for enhancing your shots, but it cannot be compared directly with Adobe Photoshop, they are from different weight (and price) groups. The last version was issued in autumn 2006 - version 9, but I haven’t tested it, yet. I have version 8.1 installed on my computer, and I can call it “a success”. Previous versions 5, 6 and 7 were somewhat sluggish and sometimes provided a few nasty surprises: sudden crashes, the occasional “blue screen”. In this case I don’t recommend you install any older version than 8.

ACDSee creates its own database where it stores information (including thumbnails) about images not only on your harddisk, but on any removable media like CDs. With a powerful indexing system you can group and search your images within a flexible set of criteria. As a programmer with a lot of experience in database development I can affirm: this is really good work!

It includes a powerful toolset for photo enhancement, and batch image processing, action sequences are also possible. For example, you can define resize, correct exposure, insert keywords and anything else for hundreds of images, press a button and then go to get a cup of coffee: ACDSee will do it all for you.

FreshView

This free software helps you organize and view multimedia files (images, audio, and video). It gives you the ability to watch movies, listen to music, and view graphics in a slide show. You can convert graphics from one type to another, print, and create HTML albums. This easy-to-use software supports 86 multimedia formats, including JPEG, GIF, PNG, TIFF, PSD, Photo CD, TGA, MP3, MIDI, MOD, AVI, and MPEG. The latest version features external-editor-program support.

PicaJet FX

PicaJet offers direct import from your camera, image sharing via e-mail or Web gallery, automatic photo enhancement, personal ratings and categories, as well as printing features. The photo organizer allows you to view your images by rating, keyword, date, or timeline and you can categorize your images by simple drag and drop. In addition, it offers convenient editing features to correct red-eye, cropping, image sharpening, and level adjustment. Additional features include direct CD/DVD burning, an image search engine with support for EXIF/IPTC/XMP data, slideshow maker, and a tool to generate a Web gallery from templates.

Webshots Desktop

Webshots Desktop is a free photo- and video-management application that combines tools for managing and sharing your own personal photos and videos with wallpaper and screensaver functionality. The latest version lets you easily organize and upload all your photos and videos right from your desktop. Now you can drag and drop photos to Webshots from Windows, search your Webshots collection and update your albums in a flash. You can also download the optional Webshots Toolbar for Internet Explorer. The Webshots Toolbar lets you search Webshots or the web from your browser window, upload photos and videos, access your member homepage with one click and for fun, you can highlight any word on the web and search its photo and video results. As a member of Webshots, you can browse one of the web's largest photo- and video-sharing communities and use the web's best search to find amazing images and videos. Only Webshots enables its members to share photos and videos together with their family and friends through online albums, member homepages, mobile uploads and custom prints and gifts.

The described programs are just tools to organize your photo archive. It is a reason to read an article "Organize - Getting to Grips with Image Management" by Neil Creek to define a strategy of archiving.

If you are going on an adventurous trip, three necessary things you should have with you are binoculars to be aware of enemy coming from far away, sunglasses to protect your eyes and camera to take photos. Photos are the only thing through which we always remember the happiness and bitterness of life. Photos can be taken of anything like someone costumes, her costume jewelry, shoes or watches etc. you can also make videos of wedding programs or tommy hilfiger clothes exhibition.
